Parents & Community
Parent Committee
At Essex Heights Juniors we boast an active parent committee that is made of from representatives from each of the rooms at the service. They meet to discuss all matters of the service and provide valuable feedback that supports our continuous improvement. Our parent committee is involved in decision making, policy and procedure reviews, Quality Improvement Plan, Reconciliation Action Plan, special events, surveys and liaising between families and management.
Parent participation and involvement
Parent are always welcome to participate in all of our educational programs throughout the year. This includes special events, activities with their children as well as activities outside the service. During the year we host “Meet n Greet” sessions at our local park for children to meet their friends in a different setting. Parents also have the opportunity to meet and connect creating their own network groups. Parents are invited to participate in special events during the year as well as attend incursions and excursions.
Grandparents Club
This initiative helps us to connect with many grandparents who we often see being part of our childrens lives. This group meet monthly to share their stories, support the service in activities and promotes opportunities to see their grandchildren in their learning environments.
Special Events
We have numerous special events that connect community at EHJ. Some have become favourites and are planned annually and then there are new ones that are organised through input from children, families, community or emerge from specific themes or events.
Masterchef
Has become an annual sharing of cooking skills where parents volunteer to be contestants, creating a cooking station with children where they have an hour to cook for the judges.
Lego Challenge
Is a great way that we involve family members by hosting this activity where teams are created to build a scene using Lego. The children and their parents enjoy this fun challenge which then is voted upon to announce a winning team.
Movie Night
Families love to gather at our movie nights where children can put their pyjamas on, bring along their siblings and enjoy a movie with their friends.
Junior Stall
This annual fundraiser shows how capable our young learners can be as they make items to sell during Childrens Week. The children choose a deserving charity which usually links to the UN Rights of the Child and the theme of childrens week each year, to donate the money raised from the event.
Fundraising events
Throughout the year our service participates in various fundraising events. Families, children, educators and the community help to organise and promote these special activities that benefit the whole community.
Xmas concert and Graduation
To celebrate a great year and the children transitioning to primary school we all enjoy Xmas parties and a special graduation to for our Preschoolers. These are significant milestones that we want to capture each year.
