A world of play and discovery

Specialist Programs

At Essex Heights Juniors, our specialist programs offer children tailored experiences in music, sport, language, yoga, art, and wellbeing, supporting their development, creativity, and confidence.

Music

Our weekly music program provides an oasis in the day, where children are able to fully involve themselves in music and movement. Our in-house music teacher, tailors these music classes appropriately for each age group, supporting the developmental stage of each child particularly through their sensory exploration.

Sport

At EHJ, we offer a stimulating multi-sport program that is especially designed for children across all age groups. We believe physical activity can foster a love for health and fitness, encourage positive lifestyle habits and produce strong bodies and minds. Our Lukomotion program, enables children of all abilities to develop co-ordination, muscle strength, motor and social skills in a fun way

Chinese language classes

Language programs, offer a wealth of benefits for children by fostering both verbal and visual communication skills. Being exposed to another language from an early age helps children form a connection to their world. These sessions, run by our own teachers, support childrens home language, whilst teaching others a new language that is commonly used in our community. Our language program creates a deeper understanding and respect for different cultures as well as developing social awareness in your child, shaping them into becoming global and multicultural citizens of the future.

Yoga

Yoga has many benefits for children and is a great way to get kids involved in physical activity and mindfulness. Our Maitri Kids Yoga classes are based around creative movement, breathing exercises, poses, imagination, dance and music. Yoga helps our children learn how to be aware of their own body, develop listening skills and improve balance and flexibility.

Child Safe Program

We are committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. We are committed to providing a child safe environment, where children feel secure to be able to actively participate in decisions that affect their lives. To promote this important topic, Essex Heights Juniors has designed our own Child Safe Program, created and implemented by our Child Safe Officer. This program has been designed to intentionally teach children about the importance of being boss of their bodies. This wellbeing program focuses on teaching children empowerment and participation. These classes teach children to understand appropriate behaviours, develop resilience, healthy and respectful relationships and strategies for prevention, if they feel uncomfortable about certain behaviours or feelings.

Art

At EHJ, we are lucky enough to have our own Atelier, a primary school teacher with an art background. Our art curriculum promotes children’s learning in an authentic, emergent way. The classes allow children to explore  encourage to develop skills of drawing, painting, and sculpting, with a goal of developing an artists ability to then apply these skills to their own creations and interpretations .
