Connections to Community
Burwood Community Garden
Our garden offer a hands-on opportunity for children to explore the origins of food and the beauty of nature. Excursions to the garden are designed around interactive activities like planting seeds, nurturing plants, maintaining produce and preparing simple, healthy recipes using fresh products. This projects help children understand sustainable practices, develop fine motor skills, and learn the value of nutrition while fostering creativity in both the kitchen and the garden.
Ashwood School
Our connection with Ashwood School allows their Duke of Edinburgh students the opportunity to visit our service weekly as they commit to their community involvement. Students with their teacher interact with our children allowing them to pursue skills in communication and collaboration, as well as gaining confidence in their understanding of the world around them.
Local Primary School
Local Primary School visits and connections provide a unique opportunity for children to engage with their broader educational community. These sessions are designed around visits to nearby schools, interactive learning sessions, and collaborative activities that encourage sharing of ideas and experiences.
Connections to our local primary schools frames part of our readiness to school program. By networking with schools we have developed reciprocal relationships in supporting education for children.
Blooms Dance Studio
Connecting with community has also allowed us to branch out and develop creative ways that local businesses can partner with us to benefit the children and families. Our children walk down to the local dance studio to participate in dance lessons that develop their love of music, co-ordination and movement.
Monash library
By partnering with local libraries, children gain access to diverse resources, enhance their literacy and research skills, and develop a lifelong love for reading. These sessions delivered by the Mount Waverley librarian, also encourage critical thinking and spark creativity, as children engage in activities like book clubs and creative writing.
Challenge Martial Arts Program
Martial Arts provide so many benefits for young children. Our connection with Challenge martial Arts sees our children participating in classes that lead to the presentation of their ‘white belts” at the end of the series of classes.
